Manager and his wife were extremely friendly and helpful. Upgraded us to a private room because we were a couple and they weren't busy, but didn't charge extra. About 30 mins walk out of downtown/mall area but there's a bus stop 1 min away and it takes about 5 mins on the bus. Free breakfast and net a bonus.

I had a very pleasant one-night stay at this hostel on a Friday night in early May. It was pretty empty so I had a four-bed room to myself. A very spacious locker with padlock was provided for storage in the room. All of the rooms were very clean and well maintained. My fellow travelers were very friendly and helpful in orienting me to the city. The couple running the hostel were also extremely friendly. I felt safe as the only female staying there, although the neighborhood got slightly loud overnight (Friday night at Chilkoot's!). I was able to walk downtown in half an hour. I'd definitely stay again!

I stayed only two nights and left early each morning, so I had little contact with anyone, but I found the hostel comfortable and quiet, and it provided adequate kitchen and bathroom amenities. The bed was comfortable, and it was nice to have the windows open for cool air. Some patrons used the free access computer internet service. There was a no smoking and no shoes/boots policy in the building which was much appreciated. I stayed there the last weekend of September, and one part of the website had stated that breakfast was available each morning until October 1, another part stated September 15. There was no breakfast. The website needs to be updated. The building itself has obviously seen alot of visitor traffic over the years, and could use some cosmetic updates. I only met Sebastian on the staff, but he waited up to let me in at nearly midnight which was much appreciated. Fortunately, I had a rental car, otherwise a bike ride to the base of the mountains would have been too far, and there are no buses to serve the mountains either. Restaurants and stores abound in the area within walking distance, including an REI store around the corner. I would stay at this hostel again. I found it to be good value.
