Some reviews suggested the hostel is a fun social place where the staff are really friendly and make an effort to foster a social atmosphere (take the guests out after dinner, etc..).. wasn't true when I was there (granted, in the off-season but the staff weren't that friendly and there was nothing done to foster a social atmosphere).. really doesn't have much to offer relative to the price (the free breakfast and dinner are crap).. but I suppose paying alot for nothing is typical in Venice Mark, from Canada ~ 27th Oct 2009

All of the staff except for Nina were aweful, rude and unhelpful. I wouldn't stay there again. The dinner is not worth it and the breakfast is not great and is always served late. Nicola, from South Africa ~ 8th Oct 2009

The bad review is due to the fact that I turned up at 6:30 in the evening and they were overbooked by 12 people. I met 5 of those in another hostel, and apparently they booked 2 months in advance. The staff at Venice Fish was very friendly. The managers took the guests for a night out after the complimentary dinner. On that note, if you\'re looking for a quiet place to stay, I don\'t recommend staying at Venice Fish. After dinner they play music and then go out. They only have 2 restrooms for an entire Hostel, and when I was there, 1 of the sinks was out of service and there was no hot water. This place is a great social hostel. I love the way Nina introduces herself to you and how everyone eats dinner and then goes out together. The common room is a great way to just get chatting to people too. They do need more bathrooms though and better security facilities. Ailish, from Ireland ~ 14th Aug 2009

Only hostel I´ve stayed at that includes free dinner. Dinner is a nice touch because it enables a better social environment. Couple that with the fact that the hostel goes out at night as a group amounts to one inevitably making friends while staying here. Max, from USA ~ 22nd Jul 2009

Ok so maybe those comments about it being loud are true.. It was amazing: you feel very safe, great location, hostels workers are like family.. if you want to have a great time.. STAY HERE! So if you wanna have fun and party stay here, wanna go to bed at 10 pm.. dont stay here.. free food, WIFI, cheap drinks Samuel, from USA ~ 6th Jul 2009
