  • Firstly I am 75 years old, partially disabled and I was traveling alone. When I arrived at the rail station I telephoned the hostel for the shuttle service which arrived withing 15 minutes. From then on received all the consideration and kindness anyone could wish for. Should I visit New Orleans again then I will certainly stay at the Bourbon House Hostel. Ken Hayes.

  • This hostel is small and cramped with not enough restrooms/showers for the guests. It's too far from the French Quarter and is way over priced. Staff were very friendly and helpful though.

  • It's far away from French Quarter. So, maybe you need a bicycle . And when I went from airport. The airport shuttle did not stop at AAE. The nearest place is St. Vincent guest house. However, this place is good. Although have not much bathroom. But It has lockers for keeping your stuffs. While St.Vincent GH has no locker for you.

  • I genuinely LOVE this hostel! The staff is really nice and always helpful; that they picked me up from the Amtrak helped a lot. The rooms were clean and I always felt safe. The hostel is close to the streetcar and the bus, but actually you can walk the distance to the French Quarter etc. I travelled alone so I was a little cautious at first whether I would be able to meet people but I met amazing and really nice people during my stay. Thanks for the best time I could have had at NO!

  • Really cool hostel, beautiful building. Not a bad location, but probably a ten minute walk to the streetcar. The girl at the desk, Kelly I think was her name, gave me a very thorough tour of the whole premises beforehand. Great value. Showers were a little inconvenient and dirty, but other than that a great place.

  • Every staff person we met was awesome! They were informative and supportive- even when my husband came out of our room dressed as the clown that he is on April Fools Day. Alan graciously accepted a whipped cream pie in face! We had so much fun connecting with other travelers and the staff. Thank you and we look forward seeing you all again soon!

  • Having never stayed in a hostel before my expectations were low. Turns out, they didn't need to be! Upon arrival we were welcomed like old friends by Ula. The location is great (10 min walk to the street car & 20 mins to the quarter) and you cant beat the price. All in all the staff was great but Ula, Ali and Alan really made it home for our week long stay. Their recommendations were in point and they went above and beyond any hotel staff I've ever encountered. :-) Long live the adventure!

  • Staff is amazing! JJ and Uma were especially wonderful. Nice locks on doors. Pancakes were good. Picnic/porch area a nice gathering place, but it was too cold to sit there in the mornings in March. Lounge area/TV are without enough chairs for all the pancake eaters when the picnic area is not usable. Location a little dodgy at night.

  • A bit far, and walking at night can get dodgy, but overall it was great!

  • I enjoyed staying at this hostel. New Orleans is beautiful but staying at the French Quarter or Downtown is very expensive. The hostel location is on lower Garden District, but you can easily go by Streetcar or Bus to Canal Street. I used www.norta.com to know the ETA of the public transportation. Taxi to French Quarter is around $10. I also booked the city tour and swamp tour at the hostel. I loved them. You also can walk to WWII and Mardi Gras museums. Really worthy.

  • Had a nice stay in New Orleans and appreciated the money I saved with AAE Bourbon House. Still, I spent half the second night wide awake and cursing everyone involved with the hostel. We'd been transferred into a "private room" in the back: that is, they put up plywood walls to make a tiny corner of a hallway into a moneymaker. We could hear EVERY noise, no matter how quiet people tried to be, and we're veteran hostel-goers who travel with earplugs. Avoid the back room!

  • Great place to crash for a night. I was only passing through New Orleans, but would've stayed longer if I could - the hostel invited hanging out with fellow travelers, and had great off-street parking. Close to bus-lines, within walking distance of the French Quarter, and near to the interstates. The staff is really personable, and they care for their travelers. Definitely recommend this hostel to anyone.

  • I had a good time staying there , the staff was very friendly and helpful. I think " Jayson" took the time to give us a personnel tour of the facilities of the Hostel, It has made a great impression on us. Pamela and the other Guy were very friendly especially Pamela who was so nice and made sure our breakfast was made to our liking by providing some help and chatting us up. I enjoyed my stay there overall . A great place to spend the night.
