Very happy I stayed there. Parking available for $10. Would stay again. The restaurant serves excellent food and service. Very nice staff. Bathroom was very nice except for size of toilet stall (knees hit doors). Would happily stay again. Jeanne, from USA ~ 16th Nov 2009

This hostel is ok for the location but the price was a bit high for a tiny room with two bunk beds. The location is pretty good and there are some great great restaurants around the hostel. Breakfast only goes until 9:30 and they are very strict about that. Next time I would probably opt for an actual hotel though. once tax is added there is only about a 20 dollar difference for a hotel! Jenna, from USA ~ 10th Nov 2009

Some confusion about which bed to use. Dorm air could have been fresher. Walking distance to the Loop (downtown) and Union Station (Amtrak, Van Galder Bus). Gunnar, from Norway ~ 26th Oct 2009

The Pathernon Hostel is a convenient place to stay when you intend to visit Chicago. The location is perfect. You can reach the loop (main area dowtown) in less than 20min walking. Furthermore, it is less than 5min walking from the train (amtrak) and bus (greyhound) station. The hostel is clean and confortable. However, the staff is not very nice and this is not really a place to have fun. In short terms, in you are friends book there, but if you wanna meet people that's not the right place. Staff were ok generally. Having your breakfast presided over by someone intent on telling people repeatedly to pick up bread with tongs, do this, do that, etc. was so infuriating that it became funny. Fairly reasonable place so can't complain too much. Julian, from England ~ 25th Oct 2009

$1 per bag for storage is a bit much when there is no locked closet for it. Pamphlet rack and transportation maps are behind the half-door in the office area versus in the hallway for guests to view. Great breakfast. Hot showers. Weak Wi-Fi connection. Susan, from USA ~ 14th Oct 2009

The bathroom stalls are not up to code and a gal can barely sit on the 'pot' and close the door. The maids didn't clean the rooms well and regularly and the commons room barely was big enough for 5 people to function. Also, it had not sink or running water. Other than these items, I loved being in the Greek area. Sharon, from USA ~ 1st Oct 2009
