this place had the rankest weirdest people ive ever met.... there was a 70 year old dude wearing a pink thong around the hostel joined by a bunch of his other senior citizen friends... if your looking for ANY fun portland is not the place the best thing to do in portland is to drive right through it please be advised this city is gutter zachary, from Canada ~ 16th Oct 2009

This hotel is the worst hotel I've ever stayed. The room is dirty. I've got more than 60 insects bites(bed bugs). But the staff never apologized to me. They said it was not their fault. I saw some bed bugs in my room even though we changed to another room. Also they lied to us that the room is non-smoking room. But the room was smoking room. It smelled really bad. Also they took double 10% deposit from us. The staff are really rude. That was a nightmare. I'll never ever stay at this hotel. Yumi, from Japan ~ 4th Aug 2009

one of the worst accomodations in my life. the staff was really rude when we asked him to change the room (it was stinky so badly b/c of smoking smell) and give us a spare key (cuz we were planning to be separated at that day). the worst part was the cleaness. even though we changed the room, it was really really dirty (he said it was cleaned) Haeran, from South Korea ~ 27th Jul 2009

AAE Portland Downtown is not a hostel... it is an old hotel. I was not expecting a hotel and thought there would be more chances to interact with other guests ie. in communal areas. Overall the location was great and the service was good. However, I was disappointed when I arrived with my reservation printout that the man at the desk didn't understand what to do with it and I ended up paying the amount of the online deposit again.
