I thought the lady on duty that night was lovely, but she spoke very little english and as it was my first day I found it a little unreassuring, especially when the cab driver dropped me off he didn~t want to stop the car out of fear of being robbed on the spot. Inside had a big metal gate though so felt safe once inside.

the hotel said it was english speaking, but i could not communicate with them, there was no internet, yet they advertised it, the linen and towels were very dirty, and the accomodation was very dull and disappointing, i stayed one night and left as soon as possible

4 Years ago this was a great hostel with great potential. The owners wer great and offrered a great service. However, the owners now seem to have shifted their focus & energy to their various new hostels in Rio de Janeiro, consequently the Sao Paulo Hostel is now completely neglected, with no service and in extreme bad shape. In order not to give the Rio site a bad name - (in my opinion) the Sao Paulo Ace Hostel should be taken off the net, and certainly off the Hostelworld.com site. I would certainly would not recomend any foreigners to stay here.

This is a lovely hostel in some respects. It is astonishly cheap, clean, fairly safe, and in an interesting neighborhood that you might otherwise be unlikely ever to see. On the other hand - it is very far from the ´destinations´ of Sao Paolo, the claim that the proprietor speaks any English is quite factually untrue, and the hostel is utilized almost exclusively by Brazilians who are equally lacking in international languages. It can be a daunting place, but perhaps worth it depending on your priorities.

The place is difficult to find. The staff is not good at all, they look retarded.

i can´t really say much, other than they never let me in. i got there and there were for sale signs on it. i rang and rang and rang the doorbell and noone came. apparently the person inside saw me but decided not to answer. unless you doñ´t really want a hostel and want to wander until you find some place to stay- don´t stay here

I would not recommend this place to anyone. There was a lot of damp on the walls and the sheets felt damp. It is in a residential area in a side road, which needs an uphill walk. When we arrived on a Sunday, there was no one who could speak English and therefore - no information on anything.
