We stayed in a private triple just off the main common room and had such a good time!! The hostel is clean, the staff is friendly, the breakfast is good, and the atmosphere is fun! I would stay here again in a heartbeat, and probably will soon. The location is also excellent: very close to Union Square where you can get public transit to anywhere else in the city. It's a real cool place to stay when you are on a vacation in San Francisco. Close to union square where is an busy area that you can go shopping or take a look, anyway you won't feel bored.Besides, it's just a walking distance to Cable car start point if you'll use it as your transportation. The hostel staff always give me satisfied answer for me, which is a good thing I don't need to spend a lot of time to look up the answer on the internet. this should be filed under a review for dakota hotel, one of their private rooms arm. it was an okay arrangement. certain rooms smelled of weed when you walked past. one of our party lost her ring in the hotel but never found it back - so that was not so pleasant. we didn't spend that much time in the hotel/interacting with the staff. be aware that the prices quoted on hostel.com is without tax. i was quoted around 25 per person and when i got there, i ended up paying 31 per person. othe Samantha, from Singapore ~ 2nd Feb 2012

The first thing I learned at arrival at Adelaide was that the dorm beds were $3-5 more expensive than I had paid a deposit for on hostels.com. The beds are $25 a night, and I was told they had to go by their own prices. Beyond that, the place was nice to stay at, with fun guests and employees. I would recommend the 10-bed dorms downstairs over the 4-beds upstairs. The sturdy bunks downstairs are very private, like a train berth, with privacy curtain, light, electrical outlet and shelf. great location, kitchen was missing a few things to cook really completely (no dish for the oven) we took a private room and the shower doors were a bit broken and price of the room even more expensive than some hotel close by. friendly staff, we could leave our luggages and store some food even before checking-in. check out and breakfast are said until 11am on internet and on place it was actually 10am so we missed the free breakfast. The Adelaide Hostel was full but they sent me to their sister hostel Dakota just across the road which had all the same facilities. I stayed in a residence room which was alot of fun, i had the best time and would recommend to anyone. ROSALIND, from Australia ~ 16th Jan 2012

Not as clean as one would expect with the raving reviews this establishmentgets. The bathrooms were dirty and didn't seem to even hve been looked at for all the days I was there.Pubic hair everywhere and the shower drains had long strands of hair clogging them.A serious health issue (in my mind anyway)!Other than that the other guests were nice and no one was loud or abnoxious. For all the help they have, I'm sure this situation could easily be adressed.
