Good hostel if overnighting in Jo-burg as close to airport. The hostel breakfast was superb.

Africa Center is more like a hotel than a backpackers lodge. The room were nice and clean and the included hotel-style breakfast was good. However, they seem to overcharge for their tours and shuttles. Airport pickup was free, but they wanted R500 for a one-way-shuttle to Sandton mall. For a R600 full day soweto + museum tour, Africa Centre kept R280 while Guide + Driver got the rest, minus costs for car, fuel and entrance fees. Not a fair deal in my opinion. However, the tour was very good. Africa center is located in a suburb, and it was difficult to get anywhere without a car.

Great place. Really helpful organising trips for you. Close enough to all the action but far enough away to relax.

Free pick up from airport. Nice and close to airport. All facilities on site. Great as a stopover point for the airport. Only stayed 1 night can't comment on access to Jo'burg itself but had a good list of tours available.

Nice looking place in a very good area that was sadly let down by the blatant greed of management and the poor (to the point of rude) and unhelpful attitude of the staff. Would not recommend

in the end it is not a hostel ut a hotel... there is no kitchen so that you have to eat at the restaurant which makes the stay expensive and only the transport from the airport to the "hostel" is free! if you have to get back to the airport it costs you 70 rand which i wasn't informed about...

Very easy to access from the airport and the tour guides are great. Great for a short stop while in transit

For someone of my sensibilities, I found this accomodation fairly offensive. When booking, I had no idea that I would continually be facing the heads of a multitude of dead animals. Buffalo and countless antelope heads were prodominantly displayed in ALL public areas.

Africa center was very good as far as hostels go and was in fact more like a hotel, and therefore more expensive. It did seem quite far from cultural sights and as a result added quite a bit of taxi fares.
