This hostel does not even operate - however this did not stop the hostel from charging our credit card. We arrived at 9pm after 48 hours worth of flights from South America, drove around in a taxi for 3 hours trying to find the hostel since it was so poorly signposted, and then we did find it it was totally boarded up and there were no other people there. We then had to try and check into a hotel after midnight in an extremely dangerous city - not happy!

The owner was extremely friendly and lives onsite so he is always around to help. The matatu buses into town stop right in front of the building so the location is safe and convenient. The building is the old liberia embassy so although its not in great shape, it has a ton of character. reasonably priced. Highly recommended!

A very nice place to stay and the staff is making an effort to make you feel as home. There are 2 shopiing malls in the area no so need to take into the city center at all.
Lee's a lot of help and very nice. My friend and I are taking a year off to travel around the world. It's now been 8 months and we thought this was one of the best hostels we've stayed in yet. It was very nice and quiet, in a really nice neighborhood. The local shopping center is within walking distance, maybe 15 min walk. The bigger shopping centers are only a matatu (local mini-bus) away, and matatus are really cheap and easy to take. We stayed about 4-5 nights and we had a freshly cooked breakfast every morning which was absolutely wonderful. Our dorm was nice and spacious, just watch out for the mosquitoes there - but I think they have some rooms w/ mosquito nets as well. When we stayed in late July, it was a little bit cold at night but we had our own sleeping bags. It also had a lounge area w/ a TV, a large dining area, outside fire pit (which was cool when lit - you can hang out w/ Lee and other guests if you want). Very cozy and nice place - definitely recommended.
If you are coming to nairobi this is THE place to come to!! Kannon (mr.lee) is amazing! Other hostel owners could definately learn alot from him!! He is so nice, and so helpful! We stayed there for 4 days and we were really sad to leave. The free breakfast in the mornings is the best we have had EVER!! The beds are really comfortable and everything is spotlessly clean. We have stayed in tons of hostels and this one is definately the best! We will definately be back! Thanks again Kannon for everything! Dustin & Chelsey
Ended up staying a lot longer than i intended, this was due to the hospitality and easy going atmosphere that i experienced here, easy to get into town with the local matus that go from outside the hostel. Great staff and very good breakfast in the mornings.
This hostel was great. it's in a very nice area of nairobi, which can be sketchy. it's very hard to find, so definitely call to be picked up after you book, but this is definitely a great place to stay. the staff is very helpful in arranging local transportation.
A strange hostel to comment on accurately - the rooms are basic and not all beds have mosquito nets. The hostel is in a quiet and beautiful neighbourhood with excellent security (there are embassies all around!) but the flipside is that there is little to do locally, not even good shopping. But we would go there again, mostly because of the owner, Mr. Lee, who is charming and polite. He really cannot do too much for his guests and is a wonderful advertisement for Kenya, Nairobi in particular. On the basis of "you get what you pay for" this is an ideal place to use as a base for exploring Nairobi (if you can either afford the taxis or are brave enough to use the minibuses) and anyone needing an affordable, basic room with no frills - it's only a place to sleep after all - could do much worse and could hardly get a warmer welcome than we received. Shame about the beds not being too comfy, though. Overall - we'd say 'try it.'

The hostel seems to be in a general state of decline, but I have no other Kenyan hostels to compare to. Staff is friendly and helpful, and its very quiet (few guests). Its a bit far from Nairobi center - an easy 20 minutes by matatu, but that can be good too, the city being loud and polluted.

I really enjoyed my time here, booked in for one night, stayed five! Mr Lee and all his staff are excelent hosts. Mr Lee will organize anything for you, from safari's and taxi's to getting drink and ciggrettes. Brilliant. The only slight problem is that if you're travelling alone it can be relatively expensive travelling to and from town. However ,if you're in a group this will be no bother. Stay here!
