Not too big, so you can mingle easily. Not too noisy, so you can sleep day or night (important during carnaval). Lovely people running the place, which is always a big plus. Would stay here again.

Muchas gracias por habernos hecho sentir como en casa. Hemos podido hacer muchos amigos, el desayuno estuvo bien servido (podrian incluir jugos de fruta como en otros hostels similares) y el trato de todo el personal ha sido excelente. Lo unico que les diria es que presten un poco mas de atencion a las habitaciones comunes que podrian tener un poco mas de mantenimiento e instalar un buen sistema de ventilacion o A/A que en verano es muy necesario. Por lo demas todo muy bien pues la ubicacion es de primera. Muchas gracias a Luis por divertirnos con todas sus historias.

Really enjoyed our brief stay at Alpha Hostel. Most staff went above and beyond with their helpfulness. Fairly quiet, and sort of off the beaten path, but easily accessible by Rio's Metro and at least 429 different buses (or so it seemed). Would stay there again in a heartbeat.

What a wonderful place to stay. The location is perfect, in a safe middle-class neighborhood of Botafogo. Just a few minutes bus ride to Copacabana and Ipanema Beaches. The staff is excellent, always willing to help us with where to go, how to get there, and tips on fun in the area. The owner, Helena, is a sweetheart and is there for anything you need. Thank you so much Alpha Hostel!
