Crazy guy watching TV all night next to us. No sleep possible. Staff did not act. Also no window in room so the air was awful.

Some of the rooms are really small and have no daylight. The carpet and the bathroom was quite dirty and looked very unhygienic. We had a mold-smelling room. But the central location is gorgeous and breakfast was quite good. The location is ok for young people having no big requirements/ money. But if you're able to afford a hotelroom you'd better do it!

Yes, the carpet is desgusting, the furniture is very old and the room is a little bit small. But the sheets were clean, the bathroom idem, the location is quite central (only 4 stops by subway or a very pleasant walk if you like to do so) and the brekfast was very good: cereals, eggs, toasts, tea/coffe. If you are prepared to the uggly carpet and you just want a place to sleep, it's a good cost-benefit hostel. It's not cheap, but it's in midtown manhattan!

The man at the reception was really unhelpful and unfriendly, and also during the night and early in the morning they were talking loud at the reception so we couldn\'t sleep very much.

major downside was that i was ripped off. I arrived at midnight - exhausted to be told that the deposit I paid through this site was a booking fee not a deposit, and so had to pay the total again. DODGY. Other than that the place was tired but clean and the breakfast was good.

It's not so clean as your grandma would like and it certainly has the most horrible carpet that I ever seen - but besides that, American Dream Hostel is a quiet convenient place to stay in NY. I specially like the location and the breakfast, which is included in the price (you got milk, coffee, tea, cereals, toasts, bagels, fruit...) A los hispanohablantes con dificultades con el inglés se lo recomiendo aún más: el encargado, Rafael, es de origen mexicano y muy amable.
