Amsterdam Hostel in San Francisco, United States

Got sent to Mithila Hotel instead of the hostel because the hostel was filled. At that hotel, come morning, we found actual bugs in out bed. Some were smashed by the time we woke up, some were still crawling around. Absolutely disgusting. We got a partial refund. Would not recommend. Nichole, from USA ~ 7th Nov 2009

I thought it was clean enough. I stayed in a 6 bed dorm with a bathroom connected to the room. it was clean and everything worked. the shower was a little weak but no matter really. The staff were friendly and the all you can make/eat pancakes were great! I would be happy to stay there again given the great price. Umi, from England ~ 20th Oct 2009

I read bad reviews about this place but thought it surely couldn't be THAT bad and booked anyway, i've since learned my lesson. I arrived payed the rest of my bill and went to my room, I was horrified and left an hour later to stay in another hostel with NO REFUND because of a "cancellation notice". It was well worth losing the money, there was no ladders for either of the bunk beds in my room, I was given a step ladder as I couldn't climb to the top. If you go to san fran stay in usahostels. My toilet in my room was broken for two days with fecal matter sitting in the bowl. Then, I broke out with bug bites all over my skin and I believe it's a case of bed bugs. Now, as I travel the rest of the country, I have to worry that I am spreading bed bugs as well as dealing with the itchiness and unsightly bite marks. Michael, from USA ~ 15th Sep 2009
