“ Really great value, staff was friendly, room was clean and comfortable! Location pretty good too, walked everywhere. And the pancakes were fantastic! I recommend going down to the kitchen earlier rather than later to avoid lines at the stove. And practice your pancake flipping technique. ”

“ The hostel in in a good location but I think for the price of a private room, it is a bit high. It was not even Motel 6 quality. The bathroom was tiled over a couple of times and had a rusty towel bar in it. It was a place to crash for a night. I think since there are so many hotels in that area and in San Fran, a little more time digging you can find a better deal and value for your money. ”

“ The windows lock was broken and anybody could get inside from the street. Not all the plugs worked. The public areas were dirty. The hostel is really old, and seems like nobody takes care of it. The only good thing is the location. ”

“ Customer service is atrocious, so don't expect anything related to decent service. The accomodations for your money though are up to par. Full kitchen privelages until 10pm and plenty of nooks and cranies to explore and socialize with fellow travelors. It's got a worn down feel to the place, definitely not modern or maintained but the rooms are cleaned everyday and there's free pancakes in the morning and coffee all day, for 20 something $ a night, it feels like you break even. ”

“ I had a horrible experience at this hostel. I booked six nights at a female dorm. After two nights, I was told that I had to move to a different room, and I had to pack all my stuff, store it in a locker, and come back at 3pm to change the room. It turned out that my bed was sold one more time, and there was no space for me in any dorm! The staff members had a very unfriendly attitude, except to Indians, because they are mostly Indians. Unless you are Indian, I don't recommend you go there. ”

“ Very good location! 3 min from Union square. Stayed there for 3 nights in a private twin room. The room was underground and did not have view, also I did not have any cell services. However it was clean, with private bathroom etc. Really good value for money! Staff were very nice- helped us with directions, stored our luggage when we checked out and even charged my camera! If you want to be in the heart of SFO and do not want to spend all those money for the expensive hotels- this is the place! ”

“ There was a little bit of a language barrier, but that is to be expected when traveling. The staff was very accommodating and I loved the atmosphere. All the other guests were friendly and fun as well! It was in a perfect location to walk to the piers or downtown. I would stay here again. ”

“ The stay was nice but you should buy forks and cups for the kitchen!! It is much nicer to drink coffee from a cup than from a plate, and there were about 30 knifes in the kitchen but about three forks. But the pancakes were good and I don't have anything more to complain about. ”

“ Staff were not very friendly at all. There was no fun in the hostel to be had, I have stayed in many hostels, and it is supposed to be a student atmosphere, it was not. Value for money was awful, so much tax was added that it was incredible. I couldn't believe it. This hostel is not worth the money that it costs to stay there. I felt like I was on a school trip or something. I do not recommend it. ”

“ The kitchen and activities in there should be improved. While the pancake breakfast is great fun and tasty, it is a nightmare for cleanliness, e.g. pancake batter all over the stove, folks not cleaning their dishes, cockroaches in plain sight (but not for long), etc. ”
