Ante Portas is an absolutely lovely hostel that feels more like a hotel. It is clean and quiet, and is an excellent place if you are looking for a peaceful getaway in Salzburg. The staff are very helpful and kind as well. Michelle, from Canada ~ 1st Oct 2009

Once we arrived at Ante Portas, there was a sign on the door stating they relocated us to a different hotel, but in order to find out where, we must go to the Zum Guten Hirten and speak to the owner. The owner was extremely rude and treated us like we were incompetent. He sent us to a hotel up the street, which was very nice. However, I wouldn't book with them again just based on this individual. Really nice and not expensive place to stay, nice big rooms, beautifully furnished and decorated, with a fully equiped kitchinette. Staff is excellent, and provides information about Salzburg (brochure, city map, etc...) Even though not located in the city center, it is still very close (15 minutes in bus).
