Mitch, Robbie and HERO are wonderful hosts and I had an amazing stay in the true tuscan hills of Firenze, 1km uphill their not kidding you, but the locals are more than happy to give you a lift. Much prefered my time here looking over the city than my time spent in it. grazie milli

The building has tons of character and amazing views, but you will pay for them when you walk up the hill! Being kicked out between 10am and 6pm can be frustrating if your having an easy day, but at least it gets you up. The bus ride from Florence takes about 30 minutes. Overall great staff, good rates and beautiful views, but poor location.

beautiful location, though outside city and long walk uphill. hard to get to late at night. great place to stay for a night or 2. stayed there one night and another in the city, best way i think.

This hostel is at least a 45 minute hot BUS RIDE outside of florence with smelly people on it, then you hike up a "1 km" hill that is actually at least 2 or 3 km. After you get over that fact, it isn't too bad, the area is nice but it is just so far away.

Very nice hostel, location is horrendous. They say 1 km walk uphill on the website, but you don't know what they mean until you get there. The walk is horrible, AND it is at the end of a long bus ride. PLUS there is NO where to get food near there, and no food at the hostel. Everything closes early at night in Florence on that side of the town, including the bus line. So just beware, it is very hard to see Florence from this hostel. OH and one more thing, they close from 10am to 6pm, so once you leave you cannot come back until after 6... its really unusual...

We had an absolutely wonderful time at this hostel. True, it was quite a hike to get there, but I would have hiked 5 more miles for that experience. The night my boyfriend and I arrived, we didn´t realize that there was nowhere to eat around the hostel. We were bummed that we had to hike back down the hill to get food. Mykalah (sp?) was so wonderful. The hostel was hosting a wedding dinner that night, and she said the cook could probably save us some pasta. We would have been happy with the pasta, but they ended up saving more than just that. We got a three course meal from the hostel that night. It was amazing. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this place. The breakfast even rocked. It was truly a magical setting, and the staff made our stay absolutely perfect. I want to come back to Florence just so we can stay here again.

This was my favorite hostel I stayed in -- not to mention one of the most unusual. The building is a medieval hospital/convent, and the hostel actually retains some of that feel, with beds lined up in a huge room rather than the typical bunk beds/dorm model. The interior also has a bit of that foreboding Gothic vibe to it. OK, I know a lot of people are complaing about the location, but I really couldn't disagree more. Yes, you have to walk a couple of miles uphill through the countryside. But this is the Tuscan countryside we're talking about. It was amazing to find such a real, isolated location in this age of instant gratification. You can get some amazing views that look like Renaissance paintings just by taking a walk around or even looking out the window. I highly recommend this hostel for any budget-conscious traveller who doesn't mind walking and enjoys a little more of a rural feel to their visit.
