- “ On arriving well before the stated time, we were aloud to checkin around 11am. We were sent to the new Bekan building a few minutes walk away which did seem a lot nicer than the original building. The 8 bed dorm was relatively clean, the only down side to room is lack of power outlets, only 3 for the whole room. There is also only one shower for the entire building, which didn't look like it had been cleaned in a while, but we never had a problem getting in there when we needed to. ”

- “ The convenient location and price of this hostel is fantastic. There is so much to do and see in the area, and other areas are easily accessible by the Ginza line. The room, bathroom, kitchen, and dining area were kept clean and the wifi was great. The shower room in the new building is huge and clean. If you want to experience Tokyo on a budget, this is the hostel for you. ”

- “ Overall good hostel. A bit isolated, but a short 10-15 walk will bring you to the Tokyo SkyTree, the Ginza subway line and Asakusa cultural area. Facilities were adequate but not the best. The heating and AC units are brand new. The mattresses are terrible to sleep on, way to thin. Bring flip flops for the shower. Big windows in rooms are nice. The bar downstairs is probably the best part of this place as it seat roughly 30 people. Kitchen and computer area are small, but adequate. ”

- “ security - since the receptionist doesn't overview the 2 entrances, and the door at other entrance is always opened. location - quite convenient for travelers staff - the only staff is the receiptionist who is not friendly. generally speaking Japanese are friendly. fun - no fun at all no place for hang around with other travelers cleanliness - generally good value for money - no comment facilites - inadequate facilities especially inadequate inthe kitchen character - I don't feel Asakusa at all ”

- “ the worst hostel where I stayed. The only good thing is that the room was spacious and location is OK. We found cockroaches!!!! Beds: worst impossible, super super thin mattresses, the bunk beds were old and sounded and moved a lot when someone climbed into the top bunk. The WiFi did not reach all rooms and computers in comon areas worked really bad. The people was not the kind you usually find in a backpacker's hostel....some stuffs from our bags in the closet were dissapeared. ”

- “ The only real problem we had with this place was the cleanliness and the fact that the pictures did NOT match the actual appearance of the hostel. We went there expecting quite a bit nicer than it ended up being. And the sheets/beds were quite dirty. ”

- “ Good value for money, cheapest hostel we could find in Tokyo. Location is nice, pretty close to the subway, and the Asakusa area is nice. We found some cockroaches in our room, but otherwise it was clean. ”

- “ one of the cheapest hostel, with nice and helpful staff and cool atmosphere. The place isn't brand new, there is a small lack of maintenance but everything is correctly clean and works proprely. There is a cheap conveniance store nearby. i liked the bar with outsider japanese people that come to speak english with the people that stay at the hostel. great way to learn more about japanese culture. Ah yeah, one more thing, it's written on the description, but there is no bicycle parking. ”

- “ Asakusa Smile is nice. Staff is nice and there's a bar downstairs which is a good way to meet other people in the hostel or some of the local Japanese people who are always super nice. The only downside is in the 8 person room, the air conditioner isn't that great and you might wake up simply because of the heat. Other than that the location is great since it's right by the Asakusa Ginza line station which you can take to Ueno and hit the Yamanote which goes everywhere. :) Good value hostel. ”

- “ Positive points : - very clean, well situated (in a calm area), nice staff, others guests too Negative ones : - we booked a double bed room, but it was a semi-double one (a little bit small for us) - only one shower for 15 or 20 beds in the annex and one true lavatory (some small ones in the toilets however) ”

- “ To start with the staff I think they try their best to make it as comfortable and clean as possible, but since there are alot of young backpackers etc who I think a the source to the not very nice atmosphere in the hostel, people getting drunk and fighting in the kitchen at night, and people who dont know how to clean after them self. But it is one of the cheapest places in tokyo so you shouldnt exspect too much. The beds are bad and hard, pillows are typical japanese bags with rice. ”

- “ Only one bathroom, people who were staying there seemed to think it was okay to leave the lights on and talk until THEY wanted to go to bed. Its cute inside with wood floors. The front door was rarely locked, because it was dependent on the people staying to lock. Only one shower, but I rarely had to wait. One of the cheapest in Tokyo, with a nice kitchen and comfortable dinning room. ”

- “ This hostel is placed close to Asakusa in Tokyo a bit away from the closest subwaystation, close to skytree. We lived in the twin room and for the money we payed, ok it was cheap but the twinroom was nothing more then a 2floor bed, old madrass and we even found a cockroach on the floor. I excpected a little more from a twinroom and there are many other hostels that offers a lot more for about the same money ”
