The Hostel is in a lovely and safe part of London with a tube station really close by. Quite a young crowd hang out here so the kitchen is full of life most of the time. As I am a little older ie late 20s the staff seemed a little less excited to see me nonetheless I had what I needed and meet some other great independant women in the female dorm.

The Astor is in a really nice part of London, really close to Westminster Abby, Parliament and Big Ben, not far from all other major attractions. Pimlico station on the Victoria line is 5 minutes walk and makes getting around really easy. The staff were good but the bathroom facilities need attention.

Some staff were incompetent. Seems the guests were dominated by large groups.

decent hostel, no elevator though so you have to climb quite a bit. beds are quite sturdy but shower and cleanliness just so-so. sound proofing seems to be not so good so can be quite noisy.

Lockers in the rooms are not good, since you can get your hands inside. I acctually locked my key that was in my backpack into the locker (accidentally), but I was able to get the key out.

Not so clean.. Don't bother getting an ensuite, the public showers in the hall are better. I stayed there when a ton of Spaniards were there making noise until all hours. Location isn't terrible, but the walk to/from Victoria Station is a bit long. Very nice area, though & walking distance to some museums and landmarks, though you'll need to take the tube to see everything. Don't forget to ask for an internet voucher on check-in! (2 free hours of internet use.)

No major problems here but nothing spectacular either. It did the job and was in a good location for what I wanted. Free breakfast was nice but the showers could do with a clean or fix up.
