I thought the staff were very friendly and clearly some thought has been put into traveller comfort such as the free breakfast, mint on the pillow and board games in the front room. Saying this though, the building was like an old boarding school, cold, very old fashioned and no charm at all. I did not feel at home and felt rather uncomfortable during my stay. If you ever stay at the Dreamtime hostel in Cairns, its completely the opposite. Wouldn't stay there again.

Great place with a nice lounge, bar and pool table. Huge & clean kitchen. Free wifi if you have a laptop and good bathing facilities. However I think the rooms lack heating during winter. Lack of storage lockers too.

Nice hostel, excellent staff. The scottish girl who works there deserves a medal for recommending Trev's Special at the firing range. 44 Magnums!! Get in!

This hostel is clean and functional with a small homely feel. I think it would be more lively in the summmer as it was the middle of winter ity felt very quiet.

Great hostel! Staff was friendly and helpful, luved the free pool table. Wasn't a huge fan of the dorm room b/c it was right off the lounge area, so was quite noisy at nite. Kitchen closes kind of early as well, but is understandable. Had a great stay =)

I've been staying in hostels for many years, and this is one of the best one's that I've ever stayed at. The friendly, hard-working staff is what makes the experience wonderful, going above and beyond to accomodate their guests with their morning breakfast, weekly dinner, and wealth of knowledge about travelling. The location is kept remarkably clean.
