- “ A bit dirty, but the staff were super friendly and the spirit was great. The hostel is in a poor location, but the staff is super helpful with rides to and from the train station. ”

- “ The staff was very friendly and helpful giving directions and advice. I enjoyed meeting people from all over the world. The free shuttle was convienient. If I ever find myself in the Boston area again I will stay at the Backpackers Hostel and Pub. ”

- “ While the hostel is run by 2 friendly guys, that's all positive feedback I can give. Located in a dull north Boston suburb, hard to reach(though a shuttle to the nearest T station is provided at some hours)and the facilities are spartan. Dorms looked like cheap motel rooms, with plastic matrasses and creaky bunkbeds that have no ladders so the only way to get to the top bunk is by either getting a chair or crawling on commando style. No AC, rickety lockers in the hallway and showers don't lock ”

- “ Worst hostel ever. Key didn't work. Had to sleep in the car, because it smelt so bad in the rooms. 8 rooms with shared bathroom for 16 or more... ”

- “ This hostel is off the beaten path if you are looking for a central location, however, they have a shuttle that takes you to the subway every half hour. The security is not the greatest as the door was open at 11pm and people are constantly going in and out. There is no a/c in the rooms, try to get a bottom bunk if you can in the summer. It is a bit social as they serve beer and people tend to chill and talk. I don't think I would repeat, but a good spot if the options are lacking. ”

- “ For a hostel outside of Boston, the staff tries their best to make sure you have a good time in Boston and Cambridge also. ”

- “ It was a bit far from the city center and the T, but it was relatively easy to get to the T station. It would've been nice if the bar had been more extensive and regularly staffed, since it seemed like a lot of people were bored late at night. I liked that they had free coffee in the morning. They really need AC or at least fans, though. It was impossible to sleep there in July because of the heat. ”

- “ The place could have been cleaner, but the staff were (mostly) friendly, and the shuttle service to the train station was a nice touch! ”

- “ The staff really knows how to make their guests happy and comfortable. Free coffee and pastries in the morning, free shuttles to the T, smiles and courtesy all through the day, accomodating when you find yourself stranded like me. A great place to stay! ”

- “ Only issue we encountered was when trying to use the phone at the front, the provided kept going to a voicemail that was full and it took a while to actually get a hold of someone in order to find out when someone could assist with check-in. ”

- “ Thanks for a great stay! ”

- “ the atmosphere is really nice. you stay outside the center of boston but there is a free shuttle service to the subwaystation that brings you everywhere in town really fast. the staff (chris, ryan) does an excellent job with keeping the place clean and giving you information about what to do and where to go. its great value because its the cheapest hostel in town. the kitchen is small but enough for my needs. no ac in the rooms was a problem to me only in the hottest night-that is saving energy. ”

- “ I enjoyed my stay at the hostel. On the first night I arrived after 10pm(front desk was closed) and the girl waited for me and gave me instructions over the phone making it very easy to get there. All the staff is nice and it is close to the train station so if I couldn't get the shuttle van I could easily get a bus or a cab for $7.The only problem was that there was no AC in the rooms and it was very hot,to the point that I had a hard time sleeping.New Ac or fans are needed in the Summer time! ”

- “ It's like a home. People are nice there, even though the Beds are not good.. They provide free breakfast, and free shuttle which are great! ”

- “ There's NO ALCOHOL signs posted everywhere, and yet I woke up at 2 in the morning with beer pouring all over me from the bunk above, drenching me, my mattress, and clothes. Imagine having to work the next day smelling like a brewery. I left early, certainly didn't stay another night, and frankly, I really do believe this deserves a refund, but the staff was completely unsympathetic.... I've stayed in so many hostels but I just can't recommend this one. It was uncharacteristic and depressing. ”

- “ Ok to spend a single night. Needs better temperature control! ”

- “ I enjoyed staying here. Cool people. It was convenient to take the orange line (public transportation) into downtown. It was a little hot to sleep there the ac does not cool the rooms well which is only a problem on hot days. The staff was extremely helpful. They were all from the area, so they knew what they were talking. I was a single woman and I felt safe when I was in the actual hostel. The neighborhood around the hostel feels a little bit unsafe but overall, it was great. ”
