If you open the window, (french fries-)smell from the macdonalds restaurant came in. Rooms are quite simply furnished, but clean. 3 Persons Room is very small. No wardrobe, no pegs. Double Room was better. Very good, central location (near train station).

This was a good hostel for our weekend stay in Riga. Super easy to find, really central location.It was pretty clean except for the giant beetle which ran across the face of my friend as we were falling asleep the first night. The lift smells of rancid sewage (and you have to take it because the stairwell is closed off). T There is an internet cafe in the same building and a bit of a sketchy crowd hangs out there.

This hostel is above Burger King. Great for late night snacks, but rubbish for making you and everything in your room smell of burgers. All the time. If you don't care about that though, then it's a great place to stay!! Riga is quality!!

My experience with Balthostel was quite positive. Staff was both yes and no. First impression very good, but when I left it was on the other end of scale. it is a secure and clean place, though a bit noisy. If I would go back? YES
