Bamboo Rio Hostel in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

This hostel is fine to stay in if you're not at all picky, but everything is just dirtier/harder than it should be; the internet password is 15 characters long, the mattresses are thin and really dirty, ditto with the pillows. The showers are **inside** the bathroom stalls (with the toilets). There's no real security - a clever thief could just walk in and take whatever. It'll work for your purposes, but don't plan to stay long.

Dear Lauren, I find it funny that during your stay here none of this was brought to our attention. How you lasted 3 nights in these unsufferable conditions and with a smile on your face, nonetheless, is what puzzles me. Regarding cleaning, our cleaners start working at 6am until 1am the following day, under strict supervision. We know how important it is to have a clean environment while traveling that is why we are extra careful with it. Yes, the wireless password is "long" but that is merely a safety precaution to avoid people hacking into it. We never ask our guests to memorize it, the computer does that for you, all you have to do is type it once. We have them printed out in pieces of paper for anyone who requests it. We have security cameras, lockers, bars in the window, keys for the rooms, luggage storage and security guard on the street, right next to our door. We do our best to give our guests a sense of security. A clever thief can walk anywhere to take anything from anyplace, that doesn't make any sense! Kind regards, The Manager
