I was there in the beginning of July, and it was very cold everywhere at the hostel. So if you come in winter, be aware of the missing heating at the hostel

Hi Zanne, Thanks for taking the time to comment, good or bad it does help us provide a better service and facility for future guests. I am aware some rooms do get pretty chilly and that is why I put 80 electric blankets into a number of rooms this year but we couldn’t get enough to do the whole hostel. Although unfortunately it won't happen this winter I am definitely looking at more effective heaters for the whole hostel, those bar heaters are fine most of the year but as you may be aware we have had several cold weeks of weather and the building being the type it is does get hard to heat so we need to sort that out soon. All the very best with the rest of your travels, trust you also enjoyed your time in Canterbury and I hope we or one of our other 12 hostels can be of service to you again in the near future. room 404 is very cold, but base is a good place for short stay.

Hi Ernesto, Thank you for taking the time to post your comments and I'm happy to advise that all Penthouse, Sanctuary, private rooms and some ensuite dorms have now been fitted with electric blankets so that will go a long way to ensuring every one keeps warm at night. We had hoped to have these a few weeks ago when it first got cold but supply issues meant they only arrived this week. We also have a few electric fan heaters available at reception as we are aware some rooms do get a bit chilly, especially if you have come from a warmer climate. i would definitely stay there again, the walls were thin and the pillows lumpy, but the atmosphere was awesome, the staff were very friendly and always helpful, the facilities were all functioning and clean, the reception is actually 24 hours and the location is unbeatable! caitlin, from USA ~ 12th Apr 2009
