Didn\'t actually stay here, they had double booked my room along with the rooms of several other people who arrived at the same time as me. I paid a deposit which was never returned. Quite a nice little extra earner for them by the looks of the number of people who had suffered the same thing. The staff on reception were rude about it and very unhelpful. And when I wrote to the manager I never received a reply. I will never book to stay in a base backpackers again and would also advise anyone else not to .

shower was very dodgy and the lifts need a bit of maintenence.. great location but overall it was not a great hostel.

Excellent location - one of the best. Our room was at the top of the building & had fab views of the city. The staff let the placed down - would be nice to see a smile!
The staff weren't very forthcoming with advice or help.

Broken lifts, cold showers, broken security lockers and poor customer service. All the staff we encountered (three during our stay) treated us rudely.

This place is a joke. The staff are terrible. Ignorant, unhelpful and have a chip on their shoulders. Wouldn't advise staying here. Only half the hobs work in the kitchen, that leaves 2 between abnout 300 people. Hate the place.

Everything here was broken, the kitchen was tiny and badly equiped - 2 out of the 4 sets of hobs didn't work. The elevator kept trapping people inside and no one seemed in a hurry to either fix it or take it out of service, and the staff were extremly unhelpful.

One of the showers had work started on it Friday and when we left on sunday there had not been any progress. One of only 2 lifts was not working on Friday and was not repaired until Sunday Morning. Showers and Toilets were tidy there were signs that they needed cleaning more regularly than they were. Would rather stay at The Cambridge Hotel for the same money. Base did not represent good value.

I booked for a four bunk dorm and got a six bunk. Also a guy bring a girl back to the room late at night, and causing alot of noise, and resulting in no sleep from myself. Also on the day of my departure was locked out of my room with the key not working whilst in the show, and having to go to reception with just my towel, no apology just told it should work now and to return the pillow, when checking out. Shame
