Very friendly and helpful staff. Not a 5 star but if all you need is a clean, safe and comfortable accommadation, and prefer listening to the sound of wavespounding the beach at night, this is the place. Ron, from USA ~ 7th Nov 2011

Much as promised, Popol Vuh have great proximity to the beach, rooms are cleaned thoroughly, daily & there's a good social central courtyard (the level of greatness is obviously determined by the roll of traveller dice, good luck!). Daniel, from Australia ~ 29th Jul 2011

We loved our stay at Popol Vuh! Excellent location, right next to the beach and to the 5th avenue! Breakfast was ok, good to start the day. The rooms were basic but clean. There was always something going on at night, it was always fun and it's a great hostel to meet people. I would definitely go back again. Denisa, from Canada ~ 13th Apr 2011

The guy working there is never there or he is drunk having an after party outside guest's windows or falling asleep in the hammocks. The kitchen was absolutely disgusting and the fridge looked and smelt like it had never been cleaned. The whole kitchen smelt so bad we didn't even want to be in there - this is an outdoor kitchen! The staff is really lazy and it was hard getting any help. Despite this, we did have a nice stay. Some rules would be nice at this hostel. Great location right next to the beach, and the hammocks are awesome. Good place to meet people too. We stayed in a private double with shared bath. My only complaints would be that the window didn't lock, so I didn't feel comfortable leaving valuables in the room and that there were no towels provided - when I asked for a towel they wanted 20 pesos, which is a bit annoying. They also asked for 10 pesos for a cup of hot water with our included breakfast. Otherwise, it was pretty good. James, from Australia ~ 27th Mar 2011
