The construction waking us up at 6 am in the morning wasn't very pleasent... I wish they hadn't put us in the room next door to the construction area!!

I was disappointed that after booking a mixed dorm room for 2 adults on hostelworld I was told on check in that there was no mixed dorms in the hostel anymore. And so instead they put my husband and I in dorm rooms - on seperate floors!! The restaurant was poor, and the atmosphere of the bar, dark and dingy and smoky (for a non-smoker), possibly the worst place I have stayed in Asia. The only positive was the location.

we had a nice stay in the hotel and i would also recommend the hostel despite the cleaning issue. the hostel is clean and the rooms seam to be clean but we found some hair which was not so nice. however, the location is the best!! it is quiet and in the middle of the city! go there if you are not too picky and you will have an awesome time!!

I always stay here in Beijing but only because of it\'s proximity to the train station. The dorm rooms are clean and the bathrooms are as well. The noise from the station will likely wake you at 5 or 6 in the morning if you are not a heavy sleeper. BEWARE if you take the airport shuttle to the train station. There is a scam going where 3-wheel drivers met you and convience you that you got on the wrong bus and are a long way from the station. They speak really good English. They target first-timers in China. When you get off the bus keep walking in the direction the bus was going for at least a block before asking anyone for directions. Ignore the women with babies in their arms they are the 3-wheel driver\'s wives.

You can have anything you like at this hostel. From a deluxe penthouse room to a shared dorm, they have it all. They also have a nice bar/restaurant that is very reasonably priced.

The room I was in had open electrical wires hidden on side of the bunk bed. When I went to plug in the lamp on the side of the bed post I was electrocuted! The shock was so strong my fingers were shaking and the power in the room when out. I was stuck in complete darkness without a phone, so I had to go to front desk. I waited for the 1person that spoke English. When I told her what happened she started laughing. Then said she would call house keeping. House keeping arrived, speaking no English, and did not understand that the fuse was out so the electricity wouldn't turn on with 'the card'. She called the maintenance man who had to climb on the desk to reach the circuits on the wall. The power was on, but I still didn't know what shocked me. I was explaining, but they did not speak English. He called the operator to translate. After 10 minutes explaining she finally understood and told to him. In order to reach the wires, he and the maid had to pull the bed out form the wall. The open wires were screwed onto the bed; basically an open electrical socket. He installed a new wire and socket. The problem is, no one cared that I was electrocuted. No apologies, no offer of medical assistance, just a laugh. They acted like it was normal. I moved to a single room for the rest of my stay. A few days later I man I met said he was electrocuted when turning on his lamp. So if you stay here, be careful. Getting there was a challenge. The directions on this site said to take the wrong bus from the airport. As a result I had to take a Taxi that couldn't find it. The taxi ride costs more than the bus. I bet 2 other people that had a similar experience. So make sure you print a map & double check you have the correct directions.
