Everything was fine except the shower. Instructions are in Chinese and it would go from freezing to boiling in 2 minutes. Had to get help.

It was decently situated if you are okay with a bit of a walk to the biggest attractions. The staff was not very helpful and when they were they acted like it was a great inconvenience to them. I did have much better luck with the day staff than the night staff. The room could have been much cleaner though, with stuff stuck to the walls and the AC leaked onto the floor, soaking the carpet.

This was probably the best experience I ever had at a hostel in Beijing. Location was excellent, the staff superb, and the environment quiet and comfortable. This is one of the few hostels I actually will recommend to my friends and family.

We stayed there from Oct 25-29, 2006. Overall, the staff were excellent, very helpful, good English, fast and cheap Internet, excellent heating/AC, cleanliness satisfactory for the price paid. We did have a problem with a large construction site directly beside the hostel. On our first night we had to complain because a 5 man crew started shovelling bricks into two large dump trucks from about 1-3 am. Closing the windows, turning up the fan for ambient noise, and wearing ear plugs did not help. The staff were helpful in going outside to request them to stop working and we also changed rooms the next night. The warning to potential guests at this hostel is that there is the potential for noise at any time of the day and night and carefully choose the room you stay in to ensure it does not overlook the construction site. Although there was this problem, the staff were good about trying rectify the matter.
