  • Phillipe and the crew were very welcoming and had a great laugh. Great hostel just off the main street in Lapa with good bus links to Copacabana. The beds were comfy and the rooms/bathrooms very clean. This is a lively and fun loving hostel with lots of activity and a group always going out so if you want a quiet stay, I would not recommend.

  • Very friendly and helpful staff!!! Wouldn't recommend the 2nd floor big dorm if you don't like the smoke or too much noise.

  • Really good hostel, great atmosphere, good facilities. Others I met traveling in Rio didn´t seem to rate theirs as highly. Just be aware there´s a great bar in a courtyard, with the rooms surrounding it, so it´s not always great if you want an early night, but otherwise I cannot reccommend highly enough. It´s in Lapa, I think the description said Santa Teresa.

  • I had a great time over the 5 days I spent there. The place itself is captivating and the staff are real nice folks to talk to and they'll help you with anything you need. Its a young place so if you're thinking about staying to yourself and being shy that won't be the place because everyone talks to each other which I thought it was very nice, because I traveled a lone. I definitely recommend it and I'll probably be going back to the hostel some time this year.

  • From the grafitti painting on the walls, a bicykle under the ceiling and a lampshade made out of a blender Books has a charming and lively atmosphere and a very well thought of look. Their Caiprinhas are fantastic and most importantly the people who work there really go out of their way to make you experience in Rio a good one. You get to know the and become friends with the owners and the staff. I would warmly reccomend Books to anyone who wants to stay at a hostel who feels like home!!

Practically, Barcelona is a pretty easy city to navigate on foot or by public transport with a well laid-out grid system for the streets and a simple metro system. Here's an example of what you can do with 24 hours and a T10 (10 journey) metro ticket.
