We agreed never to book here again but it was a good experience what a cheap accomodation in New York means. The rooms were just a little bigger than the beds themselves, we had difficulties to place our luggage. The rooms are all the same size and they don't have an own ceiling, all on the floor have just one. From Hungary

Can be a little noisy but an okay place to put your head down. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would stay there again. Also nearby Patricia Fields store and great little coffee shop about a block and a half away.

I think the hotel gives a false impression of cleanliness and comfort on the website. There is no elevator, difficult to get up the stairs with luggage, and the rooms are tiny, drafty, beds small and bad, and the ceiling is not closed between the rooms. We checked out right away, not daring to stay. We are thankful for getting our money back - they seemed to be used to that!

The location is excellent if you're interested in getting an authentic NYC experience. Plus its just a short walk to Soho, Little Italy and Chinatown. The staff may seem a little unapproachable, but ended up being super helpful and friendly.

This was my first time staying in a hostel and it was quite honestly what I had expected (which was not much). The counter staff was generally pleasant. The rooms were big enough to fit the bed(s) and MAYBE two standing people (my shared room was probably about 6x9). The ceilings were open! You can hear people breathe in the next room. Luckily I spent most of the days walking around Manhattan so I was pretty beat by the time I went to sleep. Everything else was pretty much as I had imagined it. Dorm room style showers and bathrooms, small congregational area, etc.. In summary, everything was acceptable if you don't mind the noise at night. I'd probably try to find another hostel next time at the very least just to compare it with this one.

The location is excellent. Rooms are TINY! Not enough space for a person and his/her luggage. The beds are very poor; hard, covered in loud plastic, and what's up with the bed bugs? The price is very nice, so you get what you pay for.

Location is great especially if you are interested in nightlife. Ceilings are open to the big hall where small rooms (more like closets) are. I saw no bugs there. Sounds from the showers begins at the morning but otherwise it is not noisy at all. There is a cosy tv room at the first floor and staff was very nice! Flipflops are good idea for the shower and getting there before 10am too to get warm water. Still I would say that this place is relly worth the price if you have right attitude!

I prepared myself for the worst, so the first night I was kinda pleseantly suprprised. The place was close to NYU, the room air-conditioned, the bed big enough for me, so I had a good night sleep. NYU Internet cafe is 3 blocks away, subway 2 blocks away. The Hostel is dirty, but the bathrooms were cleaned and the bed sheets were clean as well. You have to climb long stairs up to the rooms. Luggage storage as not secure at all. My second night was bad, because somebody in the room I shared a paper thin wall with was smoking illegal substances and talked all night long. it was kinda scary. of course it's supposed to be a non-smoking hostel. well, good luck! if you are looking for a cheap bed to spend the night in Manhattan, the whitehouse is value for the money.

Guy at front desk was helpful, the room was tiny and weird with the openings at the top of the ceiling. Sheets and linens looked unclean and bathrooms and showers were tiny and ineffcient. Orherwise good location, no curfew and coed. Good for just a bed to sleep on.
