Brazil Hostel in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Stayed here from 26th Feb 09 - Fri 6th Mar 09. Very, very good hostel. Very cheap, excellent and very friendly English speaking staff. Located in the heart of Lapa it offers a taste of the Real Brazilian culture as opposed to staying in Ipanema or Copacabana. I enjoyed my stay at Brazil Hostel a lot, the girls who work there are really nice and friendly, they provide lots of information about places to visit and help you with everything you need. Jorge the guy who owns the hostel is also friendly and helpful, I was robbed at a dangerous place in Rio and he helped me a lot trying to get my things back. I would like to stay there again!!! The best area to stay in Rio for character and parties. Does not take too long to get to the beach or other attractions. Met many friendly travellers - staff very helpfull. Only criticism is the booking system appears to be generally disorganised and violates the terms agreed through this website. Personally this did not distract my enjoyment. The staff are tremendously helpful and friendly and the hostel is located in Lappa, where all the best clubs, samba bars and street parties are. You will get a feel for real Rio life and not just one staged for tourists. Sure, it is a bit of a trip away from the beaches, but there is a metro and buses close by, which will all be explained to you. All in all, a great experience to be had!
