nice hostel but we had ants in our room.. the reception area was very comfy and we got help when we asked but its easy to see why they want to rebuild the lower part of the hostel..

Was the worst hostel we had in since 6 weeks. Very dirty, double rooms with no windows, blood in the toilets disgusting!!!! Very loud too. Misleading advertisment, only showing the fancy reception but not the rooms like in prison.

Went with a twin bed room. Shared bathroom facilities. It was okay for a place to sleep, but that was about it. Nothing special. A cockroach in the room, escaped into the hallway.

The hostel is under renovation currently in Feb 07, causing it to be noisy and dirty. Construction people walk around freely, do im not sure abt the security scores. The access key provided do not work most of the time, the bed is not good. The internet is extremely expensive. We moved down to City Backpacker's, which is just beside YHA and that was ten times better.
The room we got did not have any window, only a SMALL skylight in the roof. Not reachable even if we where two helping each other. The skylight could not even be opened. As we understood it, this is illegal. The staff where not very helpfull, but in the end we got our money back (minus the deposit) for the nights we did not spend there. Bad experience overall.

Really nice hostel, undergoing building works at the moment but didn't cause a problem to us at all. Room was lovely and with air con as well. Staff very helpful and friendly.
The staff at Brisbane City YHA is really not nice and not helpful.
