One of the staff was VERY Unfriendly, his name was chris, and I can not understand how a person can be so rude?

After looking online for a hostel in jnb near the airport I discovered the Brown Sugar backpackers. I had great expectations based on the reviews from other guests but I must state that I was very disappointed with everything at the facility. The manager Heinz was very cold and I describe the facility as Chinzy(cheap) They had no soap, towels or napkins in the kitchen. When I asked to make a local call from the front desk I was charged for the call. There was no TV, they charged for internet and return to the airport whereas other hostels that i discovered had free internet and had free round trip transfers. On my return to the airport, I asked the driver to stop at a store for a minute. As the store was closed and we went 10 extra KMs, he charged me extra distance, another Heinz cheap charge. DONT STAY HERE.

A hostel of value for money. A beautiful building that is relaxing with character. The only drawback is the location as it is a bit remote & public transpot is unavailable. The staff make up for this with their helpful attitude.

There are no interesting sites or amenities nearby, but the big advantage is that there is a driver who will take you into to town or to most the places you wanna go for a reasonable rate. Dinner was always really nice and reasonably priced, as were drinks at the bar.
