This hostel was in a pretty dodgey part of town. If you don’t like mice then don’t stay here… because once the lights go out so do they…..one even managed to sneak into my backpack and hitch a ride to the next hostel! We recommend paying the extra 5 bucks and staying closer to the city.

definately NOT a place for WOMEN travelling alone. Carefull with the bed sheets, i got terribly beaten by bed bugs (fleas) ... apparently very common in Vancouver. Avoid this place if possible. The staff in the reception is very nice and helpful.

I had a nice time in this hostel. Staffs are realy helpful.
great hostel, super atmosphere, cheap for the services they offer, clean, happy people, fun travelers and really friendly staff. Towels were free and I was allowed to use the storage room even after check out. I would highly recommend this hostel, when I come again to Vancouver

The people at the counter were smoking... it was a terrible area of vancouver..simply paying a few more bucks to stay at a place somewhere on granville was tottally worth it.

good price, clean but common room is too small. It's ok if you stay just a couple of days.

The staff was really nice and informative. The bathrooms were relatively clean, but we found that the youth hostel really stank. We changed rooms because the first bed we slept in squeeked loud with every move you make, whether just leaning or sitting on it, or moving your arm while you sleep.

We had just come from a delightful hostel (Ocean Island Backpackers Inn in Victoria) and were quite disappointed with this hostel. When we arrived, the room private double room we had reserved was not available. We were offered a room with bunk beds which we declined. We were then offered a room at a building across the street, also part of the same hostel. Our room was very hot. One window sash was broken, so the window could not be opened. The other window was had some of its glass replaced by sheetrock. The window opened onto a roofed air shaft. For privacy, we had to keep the blinds down which cut down on the airflow. We opened the transom which created decent airflow but then we could hear all the noise in the hall and passersby could hear us. The sheets were very thin. There was a bedspread but not blanket. There was no storage and only one hook. There was only one bathroom for each sex per floor. I don't know how many people each served. The women's bathroom, which could only be accessed with a key, had two toilet stalls and only one shower stall. There was no separate dressing area for the shower. One had to be careful not to step out of the shower when someone might open the door to the hallway. One solution to this was to lock the door from the inside, but then no other women on the floor would have access to the toilets. The gutter/gasket on the bottom of the shower door was ineffective. I watched water pour onto the bathroom floor while another woman showered. The floor was perpetually wet. I am told that the men's bathroom was not particularly clean. The staff was professional and helpful and polite when we registered our complaints.

The room was tiny and really hot.
