This place was cheap, and you get what you pay for. Honestly, i would recommend spending a bit more money and staying somewhere that is not in such a bad area.
Well, I have to say that I was very misguided by the photos, the description of the hostel, and the ratings. We stayed here 2 nights only because we had already booked it. Very Creepy vibe. all old people that looked like they lived there. We have stayed at many hostels all over the world, and this one was the worst.

TV in our room was a bigtime plus. Too bad grocery and restaurant was not closer.

Excellent location, right by multiple public transit lines. Not too well lit at night, but still felt relatively safe near the hostel. Building is old and hot in the summer, but the convenience outweighed the funkiness of the place.

This hostel is right near to the greyhound/ train station which is good. To get to downtown Vancouver it's a 15 min walk. The hostel is split between two buildings on Main Street.

The front desk agent on at the time did not have our booking even though i had a confirmation number and later discovered that a deposit had been taken from my credit card. I ended up paying full price for the room because they didn't ever find the booking and on inquiry of luggage storage the next morning the same front desk person replied "i've never even heard of that."
Overall, a great experience. Couldn't beat the location (we needed to be at the train station next door very early in the morning). Room was an adequate size and clean. Front desk staff was the highlight of our overnight stay here.
