i loved my stay in Cairns, however i found the reception staff rude and miserable, getting a smile out of them was a challenge! and the kitchen needed a good clean in the fridges and under the shelves. but location was good :)

Fairly average YHA experience.. nothing particularly good or bad. Some of the staff need customer training. The girl I saw when I checked in was brilliant, but after that it was very inconsistent. Some were good, some thought they were doing you a favour by helping you. Security is a bit of a problem. Anyone can come into the complex without even going through reception, due to the layout of the place. When people can come in off the street and wander around a supposedly private area, it needs addressing. I expect better from a YHA.

One of the nicest hostels I've stayed in definately recommend
I strongly reccomend it. It was a lovely place to stay with a great courtyard and a pool. The other travellers and staff were great and friendly. I would stay there again in a heartbeat!

The hostel is fine but there was a terrible smell in my dorm room. My matress and pillow just smelled. It was not clean. I would not stay there again.

The rooms are incredibly tiny and the train line running right behind is incredibly noisy!

Fairly central with good kitchen & laundry facilities. Staff were helpful re booking next yha etc. Bathrooms & kitchen were cleaned every day. Overall, it did the job, it just wasn't spectacular or anything!
