After 4 flight to get to CHCH, I was thrilled with the cozy quiet at Canterbury House. VERY helpful hosts, clean rooms, sweet cat. Only drawback is location since the CBD is closed post-earthquake. Restaurant next door, but grocery stores a decent walk away. Brandy, from USA ~ 8th Jul 2011

Hostel was in the perfect location for me. The bed was very comfortable and the room was quiet. Furnishings were extremely out of date and seemed a bit drab to me. It was cash only to pay which would have been good to know ahead of time as I had limited cash...however, I would stay there again and recommend it IF they did not have a cat. I hate cats and was a bit upset I did not see it mentioned anywhere.

Thank you very much for your comment and glad you enjoyed your saty. We do mentiond about a cat and payment. We recommend that as you hate cats you should double check when you make a booking with a hostel as many hostels have cats.
