My friends and I stayed here 3 nights. The couple that runs the hostel are very kind and helpful. They helped us figure out what we wanted to do for the day and knew a lot about the history. The town is a hour and half outside Dublin, but if you are looking for a small town, this is it. The couple is also willing to drive you to Glendalough or surrounding areas for a small fee but will pick you up too. The hostel is very homely and cosy, the couple who runs it is very caring and offers a lot of activities or lifts to some of the sights in the region and gives you good advises were to go for a good meal or a nice evening in a pub, we felt really at home there! Absolute best stay! It's like a home away from home, very cozy and fun. Ian and Trish are fantastic, generous hosts that know the area and can help you with anything you may need. This is the best hostel I've evern been to.My husband and I had a double room, which was lovely, private, and quiet.The bunk rooms looked great, too, and at least two of the other people we met and cooked with in the hostel during our stay had extended their stays because they liked the place so much.Wicklow is a gorgeous little town, and the owners of Captain Halpin's are really engaging and helpful.They really like what they do, and you can tell.Thanks for a great time!
