  • So things didn't exactly go as planned for our trip but the manager at Casa de Mateo made it up to us! First of all, we showed up and were informed that hostels.com never sent a reservation to the hotel and they were booked (something I would confirm before hand!). But, the staff helped us book another place downtown and for the other two nights gave us the suite at the price we had originally booked, paid for our parking and refunded our hostels.com booking fee. I would highly recommend them!

  • We stayed in a suite on the top (4th) floor for two nights. It was easy to reach (about a ten-minute walk or two subway stops from the Rue St.-Antoine bus depot). Room was cozy, comfortable bed. Charming, right in Old Montreal, very cool narrow little streets - very romantic, European feeling. Staff were friendly, comp breakfast was decent. The only real downsides were a lack of elevators (would've been nice in a 4-storey building) and no reliable WiFi signal (which was an advertised amenity).

Luckily there are so many other beautiful cities around Europe which offer an exciting nightlife at half or even a third of the cost.
