  • All in all, a good experience. On the short list for the next time I stay in NYC.

  • I travel to New York often for work, but have to pay my room and board. I look to spend as little as possible and Chelsea International Hostel is affordable and clean. When I'm in NY, I just need a place to shower and rest. While there aren't many bells and whistles here, they will give you breakfast and there is wi-fi if you need it.

  • This hostel was verygood one, the position is verygood and near to bus and subway station, however the wifi is not allowed in the rooms that restricts your stay within the common areas only. The rooms were quite at night, clean and organized.

  • I stayed in a single room, and was most pleased. You can not get a hotel room , if you are traveling alone, for a comparable price. I shared a daily cleaned bathroom, but never saw anyone. Had a sink, pegs , double lockers(bring your own lock) dresser. clean and a wonderful window on the world. Police station across the street assures a safe block. I needed a better mattress, no problem. The bagels were actually not that bad and part of a typical hostel breakfast. Location:EXCELLENT!!!!

  • My credit card didn't work at first, I was treated like I had no money... Could not leave my luggage.... Not very friendly.... Room and Bathrooms OK....Best thing is definitely the location.

  • Great Hostel, in perfect location. Honestly, great value for money. Staff could be a little bit more welcoming, but they were professional. Facilities are clean, breakfast is more than acceptable for the price you pay... I don't get how people complain about it. You pay for a hostel, and you get a very good one. Rooms might be small, toilets and showers might be a bit tight... this is not the Waldorf Astoria, and you are not paying for a big room. Great Hostel.

  • Good location with easy access to metro and all the city sights. Staff was not helpful for me, the cleaning staff seemed very nice but I do not know spanish. Breakfast is good with a fruit, a bagel, juice, coffee and cereals. Private rooms are small with a very basic bed. The toilet was so small i had to almost climb over the toilet to open door only to hit my head (but i am 2m / 6ft5)

  • Well located, always clean bathroom, good calefaction, easy access, 24 hours reception and I paid prices and taxes advertised. The washbasin in the private room was a pleasant surprise. Worst features: the low quality and variety of the breakfest; the little or no friendliness of the reception staff (especially in a hostel). Wooden stairs becomes very noisy at night - maybe apply a rubber or foam coating help it.

  • The attitude of staff is not very friendly and not willing to help tourists. Money talks. The breakfast is just one bagel and you can not to ask more. The room is old, Beds, facilities like locker in the room and shower rooms are also needed renovating. Sound insulation is SO poor. Waken up by the sound of cleanness staff everyday just at 8 am. The heater is not strong, either. the only benefit is location, near subway stations.

  • Good place to go for a value-deal. I would recommend it on most accounts, except 1 thing. I wish I would have brought ear plugs. Somehow the smallest sounds from outdoors seemed just as loud as if I'd slept on the sidewalk.

  • Best value for money I have ever found in Manhattan. Centrally located, offers all I needed, including a nice breakfast (bagels, fruits, coffee, juice) for a great price. Have individual lockers on bedroom, ensuite and it's pretty clean. A nice sleep. Remember to bring towel, they don't provide! Not so good: no internet on rooms, narrow stairs to get to bedrooms (but it's only a couple floors), common room closes 11pm, lacks some fun, front desk staff. Nice stay still. I'll definitely be back!

  • Their home page shows a very different image of the place than reality. It was very cold, badly isolated. It felt like the walls were paper thin, that made the place was very noisy too. The over all feeling of this hostel is cold, pale and un-cosy. No couches, no where to naturally hang out with the others who lived there, no way to listen to music, whats a movie or TV in the common areas and very limited access to wi-fi (the few times it actually worked at all). Stand Up night was great though.

  • Rude staff. The room was filled with dust. Old facilities. Common area was closed at 11pm and Wi-Fi was only available there. So you can't use the Internet after 11pm. No screen on the window. The worst hostel ever.

  • I was 5 nights there (New Year’s Eve). Location is really good. Staff was very unfriendly. When asking questions they seemed a bit annoyed +answered the question shortly + quickly ignored you and turned to the next. When asking for an additional blanket I had to go twice to get it. The bathroom walls had holes + it looked shabby + had just a little sink in the bathroom. Breakfast was very little (one bagel and a fruit + coffee, juice, milk and cornflakes. quality/price ratio = very poor!

  • Strong noises every nights, all night long by other people "walking" and opening/closing doors. We found a BEETLE in the bathroom (ensuite double room). Very well located and good quality/price ratio.

  • The bedroom was very clean but the walls and the shared bathroom in the hallway could be renovated since that looks pretty old and not really nice. It was a good place for 1 night but it could be nicer.

  • DON'T RECOMMEND THE HOSTEL! If you want to leave bags in the hostel before check in and out, you have to rent lockers and pay 3-5 dollars each time! Room was very hot, terrible!! We had to open the door when we were inside. There were beds, no bunkbeds, and lockers in the room. Bathroom was ok, but hostel don't provide soup for wash the hands and no towels for the floor! Breakfast very simple. Wifi ONLY in common areas, that close at 11pm. Dont worth the money. Don't stay here.

  • The rooms are kind of old and not worth the money. But the hostel is in a good location and for only a few nights it is ok. The breakfast was good and the staff at the counter in the morning was very helpful and friendly.
