- “ I stayed 2 weeks at the Chicago Hostal. I found the location to be excellent. Centrally located between historic Quito and the Fosch Plaza. The rooftop dining area overlooks the Basilica and the breakfasts at $2.00 per day were an excellent value. I appreciated the cleanliness and family atmosphere. The Chicago Hostal is a family run place and I felt I was treated with a great deal of courtesy and kindness. I was invited to a private party on the roof and was not allowed to pay for anything. ”

- “ It was one of the worst nights in any hostel. It felt like a meat locker and I froze all night. They did not have any space heaters to provide. The stairs are concrete, steep and slippery and no guard rails. Three dogs. I heard dogs barking all night.I felt like I was in a prison in an area too dangerous to step out with the office door locked at all times. ”
