The staff is very unorganized and actually double booked one of the beds in the room. They have no concrete way of know why is staying in what room, other than a form you sign when you check in. You do not get a key to the room you are staying in, which is odd considering the urban location of the hostel. I do not recommend staying here.

I was worried about staying at this hostel because it has gotten some bad reviews. However, I enjoyed my stay. I stayed in a private room w/ a shared bathroom. We were only there for about 8 hours, and the hostel served our purposes perfectly. If you are just looking for a cheap place to stay in Chicago, this is the place. Its easily accessible off of the Red Line train, and is cheap!

The door is locked from the inside and when I first walked up to the door the woman was holding the door as if she was going to go outside. I waited and she said "I am holding the door for you." Then under her breath "Some people are so DUMB." The location is decent. The staff is uncaring, the hostel is dirty, and they charge an 18% tax on the price shown on Hostels.com.

Hostel is too far away from Downtown Chicago, 30 min sobway. Building is too old as the furniture. Rates are cheap though.

The big, young dark guy was very helpful, but the elderly gentleman & young boy, no help. Security is non existent as there are no front door key (someone lets you in - how they can remember everyone who stays there I don\'t know). The rooms are not locked (no keys) & no lockers. The place needs either a complete upgrade or torn down. Bathrooms are dirty (had to ask 3 times for toilet paper), shower curtains mouldy. You can\'t use the kitchen at lunch time (closed between 10 or 11 am & 2pm).

We were forced to pay extra fee for staying when we arrived at this hostel. The staff said to us we should pay 18% more as tax. I've never heard such a high tax, moreover, in usually we don't have to pay tax to hostels. I think they are frauds and they try to earn money illegally from customers.

Right off red line train in a neighborhood where walking after dark was not a problem, very helpful staff but room was DIRTY!! Toothpaste and hair all over bathroom, dirty silverware in the kitchen.

I advise anyone who's considering staying at this place to read all the reviews. The worst assessments are true, and it's even worse. This hostel needs to be driven out of business and brought under new management. A man who obviously was the greedy absentee owner showed up the first morning of my stay and proceeded to bark orders at his staff and helpers in the rudest, vilest, most abusive terms I've ever heard a human being utter. There is only one very good and conscientious staff member,
