Functional, cheap, an ok location - close to Kyoto station. The lady in charge speaks little english but makes an effort to help. Not a homely feel, but not a bad place to stay.

Perfect location, safety is not so okay (keys of rooms are available just around the corner of the entrance, door is always open and owner is not always at the door), but in Kyoto the safetylevel is not as important as elsewere: low crime numbers

the location is great and the staff is helpful, on the downside, the bathroom smelled absolutely disgusting and was masked with an even more foul peach air freshner. if you dont intend on sleeping in the bathroom or coming in at 2am (because i hear the madame of the house ms.sukai promptly locks the door at 11pm with no mercy)then this is the place to stay!
There is only one shower, so if its busy, you may end up waiting a bit.

wow where to start, after arriving at 11pm no ATM access and getting lost, i called from a random hotel and she actually came and got me, it was amazing, i speak little jap and she took the time to try and understand me, she had a friend, who worked for her part time, be there to talk to me, she came in everyday. im in tokyo and all i want to do is go back to kyoto. this traditional hotel is just that but if you take your time and have an open mind to the experience youll love staying here, ^_^

Thought this was a terrible place to stay. The toilets had a repulsive smell and generally the place needed a good clean - even the sheets had dubious marks on them. Did not enjoy the stay here.

We had such a great time! Everyone there was really great! It was really close to everything that we required in Kyoto, and being it was close to Kyoto station was nice as well! We look forward to staying at Chita Guest Inn next time we are in Kyoto!
Very good location, in the centre of the city. The place is a little old, but fairly clean and the staff is awesome!
