The staff was SUPER. We took this trip to Israel as spontanious as 2 days before our flight took off from Finland. We made our Hostel reservations quick and with haste. I didn't read the Roof part carefully and when we managed to get to the Hostel it took us by suprise in a way. Anyways, my point is that after the Staff saw my wife 6th month pregnant they arranged us a shelder Box at the roof... still had the panorama view and yet had our privacy! Thank you sooooo much!

Overall nice a place. People need to be better informed that if they book the cheapest dorm they will be staying out on the roof on a mat with a bunch of other people. The place needs to come up with a better system of who is staying on the roof. There is no reserved spot. Everyone must fend for them self and hope that once you have secured your mat that no one decides to move your stuff and leave you without a mat or the location is not there original choice. Overall a good experience. Very low ceilings. WATCH YOU HEAD.

I upgraded my reservation from roof dorm to private room, the manager averaged my deposit over the 7 days booked. It came to 3 NIS/day. He would NOT deduct even 3 NIS from my room \"What can you do with three shekels?\" The room (room 8), at $70 USD was awful. Yes, it had a private bathroom, but it was just some plastic sheeting assembled into walls in the corner of the room. The room had NO character.

The staff was great, but staying on the roof was horrible. During the day, they put all the mattresses, pillows, and blankets in a pile and you have to pick over them at night. You have to pay upfront and they won't give you a refund.

the atmosphere was ok. its pretty cavelike. security was a joke. the location is pretty central though. the beds were some of the dirtiest ive ever seen in my travels. the sheets had probably not been washed in weeks. if ever. other than that, it was a pretty blah hostel, but probably one of the best by jerusalem standards.

sleep on the roof. This is definitely one of the best hostels I've found. The staff is great.

We stayed at Citadel Hostel for 4 nights. Immidiate we draw attention to the athmosphere, interior and friendly staff. We stayed in one of the family rooms with our two children, they enjoyed the interior and the nice temperature there. The weiv from the roof where outstanding, and enjoying a cup of coffee in the morning there, while Jerusalem was waking was an experience that we strongly will recommend. Is every thing just fine? Well-the toilet and kitchen facilitets could be better. Besides that we enjoyed the Citadel Hostel very much and give it our recomendation. From a danish family.

The hostel was very cute and friendly, but I was unsure about the cleanliness. They had no hand soap and ran out of toilet paper, and I was told there was a cat living in the alcove where they kept the "clean" blankets. I slept on the roof, which was lovely - great view, if you don't mind the muezzins and church bells waking you at 4.30 and 6. The only security was leaving a blanket on top of your bag to claim a mattress - no lockers or anything. But really, what do you expect for $14? Overall, nice character, nice staff, bring your own soap and don't bring valuables.
