Didn't appreciate the vacuuming at 9:30 on a Saturday morning seeing as we didn't have to get up! Especially as check out isn't until 10am. Weren't really greeted very well at reception (some mardy Irish woman), and it was the same when we checked out, no "thanks for staying" or anything.

Overall a very good hostel. the only downpoint we experienced is that in our room, we had to let the water pour for 20mins before we got hot water. But this was only the case in our room, in others it was fine. Definitely recommend it!

tons of room to spread out, big kitchen. awesome location - great pub area 5 mins walk away. chilly in the winter, but rooms have heaters so it wasnt the end of the world.

The hostel is in a state of change at the moment but it didnt take anything away from the stay. Very friendly staff and good chill out area's. Clean rooms and the shower was good also. Comfortable stay all up, definately would stay again!
Good location 5-10 minutes walk to the centre and friendly staff. The hostel is a bit dated but I thought that added to the character of the place. The bar is being refurbished but the Excelsior up the road was good.

I was charged NZ$5.00 for 2 pages fax to China. I think it's over charged as the other hostels all charge $1.00 for a page.

It was not advertised on the websites as being under construction - the bar/restaurant was actually not even open and there was work being done on our corridor so our room smelled of paint!
