I stayed at this hotel during Carnivale. This place is half hostel half hotel. We stayed in a 4 person private suite which was somewhat spaciious. When we left our hotel the staff tried to charge us 150 REAL for dirty towels. They only washed one towel and never attempted to wash any others claiming that the dirt were permanent stains. If this hotel wasn~t so filthy then there wouldnt be any dirt we would have to clean. I would never stay here. It is not worth it. If it wasnt for the great travelers we met here I would have changed hotels at any cost. Beware of staff trying to overcharge for substandard service and cleanliness.

Was there for Carnival, so can't expect too much, because they cram you in for profits. But the staff was very helpful and responsive. When things needed cleaning they took care of it. They offered great advice and suggestions. Overall good experience.

This hostel is terrible. Apart from the great breakfast and good location this place has little else going for it. The elevator was broken often which meant trekking up 4 flights of stairs to get to the hostel, ladies communal toilets were flooded and owners did nothing about it for days, showers do not drain for like 30min after a shower, poor facilities for tourist information, no communal area, no social area, no bar, extra beds were brought into dorms over new years to squeeze extra people in... making the dorm feel like a prison. The security lockers were a joke. Avoid this place if you can for a proper hostel not this hotel-slash-hostel.

Possibly the worst Hostel of A year travelling. Our room was like a prison cell, the bathrooms were awful, there was no communal area or kitchen so it was impossible to meet people. Only the breakfast was any good.

The hostel by itself was in my opinion good. The rooms, especially the new ones where really modern, the older ones where also ok. I liked alot the breakfast, which was for a hostel really good. One point was the location. It is in Ipanema and the beach is not that far, but taxi drivers told us that it is more or less close to a farvela which made us feel a kind of insecure. Taxi drivers told us not to walk home in the evening because the area is not really safe.

The breakfast here is really good, you are just a two minuite walk from the beach. Also the staff speak perfect english and are extremely helpful, I do~not know how i could have managed in Rio without them.

Booked a single room for R$ 60 and once there they told me it was R$ 90, that for 60 they were only going to gime me a bed in a dorm! Very unhelpful and rude staff, specially the girls at the reception. Dirty floors and sheets. Only portuguese spoken. I asked for towels and I was told that it was not a 5 star hotel. Hot water only available from time to time... Avoid going there, because for everything that will go wrong you are gonna be told it's not their fault as they told me, without trying to fix it, they just spend the day chatting on the msn behind the front desk!
