When we arrived there wasn't room for us (despite our reservation), so we were taken to another place down the street. It was actually much quieter and had more character than Colonial House and the woman who runs it is lovely. I've rated Colonial House based on what I saw of it...

Not a bad place for backpacker-type travellers. There's a decent kitchen and common areas (which are essentially outdoors). It's nothing glamorous, but for $18 a night, what can you expect? Still, we left after one night to upgrade to a better place.

I had to pay an additonal $3 that had already been charged to my credit card do to the staff´s neglect to note that this had already been paid. Any help in having this reimbursed to my card would be GREATLY appreciated. I also had to pay for an additional night´s stay even though I tried to check out before the 10:30 check out time. I was then charged an additional three soles when the key that was given to me was lost.

Very friendly staff. Very clean. Very central. Lovely building just a moment from lots of nice restaurants and a top launderette who deliver back to the hostel (magic lauderette on Jerusalen).
