Saw mixed staff quality. Ricardo was excellent, and looked after all and sundry very well. The others I found seemd to operate on a ´´minimum´´ philosophy. Worst thing I saw was not tragic, but was wiping down breakfast tables, with the crumbs and papers from that table being brushed on the couch (was obviously not required to clean anything beyond the table-top, so putting that rubbish onto the couch was ´´job done´´) Mark, from Australia ~ 20th Jul 2009

Great staff, all were really helpful. Rio is very hot so the hostel really needs air conditioning as sleeping was very difficult in such heat. DON'T DO THE FAVELA TOUR with their recommendation (travellernottourist). It is a rip-off and poorly led. Very close to the beach which was great. Olivia, from Australia ~ 13th Mar 2009

Copacabana Wave Hostel made my trip. The staff were all upbeat and friendly. They got us involved in a futbol match, took us on a crazy boat cruise around rio, and got us tickets to see Manu Chau in Lapa (unreal!) - very highly recommended if you're looking for a good time in Rio. This hostel has a great location - only two minutes walk to Copacabana beach. Fair price but not very clean at all. The rooms seem old and not very inviting. Not very recomendable.. Michael, from Denmark ~ 12th Dec 2008
