The hostel is situated right in the center of the city, in front of the railway and the bus station, the airport is also easily reachable. You can visit the best places of Belgrade, almost all of them are within an hour walking, and much less by public transport. It is quiet, clean and relaxing. Lily is great, you're lucky if you meet her. Don't forget to leave a coin from your country, they're gathering them. I appreciated much my stay. Great location, friendly staff and fairly affordable. The towel I was given was a bit smelly and had gone a bit sour. The bedsheets and blanket covers were too short for the bed and blanket. The reception is not able to monitor people that go into the building - the hostel is part of an appartment block and reception is on the 6th floor. So, Downtown Hostel itself is not bad.Pretty average for a hostel as far as cleanliness and feel.The problem is that it is in a scary rundown building that smells awful and recalls a number of horror movie sets.When we walked in there was a half dead dog on the 1st stoop landing and the smell of decay loomed in the entrance way.It dispersed as we climbed the 6 floors to the hostel and when we opened the door we were relieved to find that the hostel didn't reflect the rest of the building.Unfortu Errin, from USA ~ 16th Aug 2011
