Great staff and location - wish I could have stayed longer!

Great hostel, perfect location, and decent price...what more could you ask for. Grindelwald is an expensive place, but the Downtown-Lodge was a great deal and within walking distance of the station and anything you could want to do. The rooms were very clean and quiet. The hostel wasn't very social or exciting, but after a long day of hiking it is nice to take a break. Would stay here again without hesitation.

For the price it definitely was a steal! It is located centrally in grindelwald and I didn't have to bring a thing other than my hiking boots.

the breakfast was definitely not worth 6 franks (even though they said it was included...) the overall atmosphere was pretty good, people seemed pretty nice, but the unexpected surprise of expensive breakfast was not worth it.

Nice hostel although slightly lacking in security and had flies landing on my face all night waking me up.

it's a really nice and chill place to stay for a few nights, the only downside is that the shared bathrooms are for guys and girls together

Everything you could ever wish for in a hostel + added bonus of one of the world's most beautiful settings: huge bedrooms (which made it OK that there were 8 people in the room rather than the 6 I booked for), good sized lockers, plenty of entertainment in the games room, big comfy couches, great kitchen, bar with food, free internet, outdoor chairs and tables to enjoy the view, friendly staff etc. Highly recommended.

Excellent place to stay. The staff was so very friendly and always helpful. There was chopped up wood for the pit to make a fire to cook with, which was a plus. Highly recommend this place for a relaxed, quiet stay.
