Drop Inn in Wexford, Singapore

It's a little unsettling when the hostel rented out their couch space...even though they had space in the dorms. So when you go out into the common area you have to walk past people sleeping on the couches (often with no sheets) paying $10 a night. Gross. Staff was friendly but we were often waiting half an hour for someone to set up breakfast. Not horrible, but definitely needs some work.

Hi! Thank you for your comments. We only rent out our couch spaces when our dormitory is completely full. Even when we do rent out couch spaces, it is also not for just anyone. It is only for guests who are either staying the day before and wanted to extend their stay, or staying the day after. It is more for convenience sake. However, if there are guests who will prefer to stay in the communal area because they find it more comfortable in the dormitory, it is also hard for us to chase the guest out of the communal area, because it is supposed to be 'communal'. We do not have a 'quiet time' whereby we chased all our guests back to their room and they are not allowed to hang out in the communal area. However, pertaining to breakfast, I have checked the punch card of all my staff and it is true that some of them are late for about 10 minutes at the most, thus, it is also ridiculous to say that you guys wait for half an hour for someone to set up breakfast. Basic analysis: if my staff is here 10 minutes late, why will they loiter around for 20 mins not doing anything before they prepare breakfast? Breakfast takes less than 5 minutes to prepare. In addition, I had also just asked another guest who stays here and he said that he always managed to get breakfast between 8:30am and 9am. Thus, one reason I can think of is that did you guys get the timing wrong? Our breakfast starts at 8:30am and not 8am. Lastly, if you guys really do not like this place, why didnt you guys let me know your thoughts when you have seen me a couple of times?? In addition, you have also extended your stay by 2 nights in a place which you described as 'Gross' in your review.

Great stuff, good common room... Unfortunately we were placed in a twin room with no windows (not such a great problem) and with dampness on the walls (this is a problem). So.. avoid Bugis room...

Hi! We have already renovated our Bugis Room, and mend the wall. However, as this is a shophouse, we are unable to have windows in all rooms. Sorry for the inconvenience.
