well located between kyoto station and the main shopping/nightlife and sightseeing areas
Shortish walk between JR station and Kyoto city, very friendly staff and nice rooms.

Very friendly and kind staff. Good location, specially well communicated by bus. The mayor problem was with insects, we got lots of bites, even having the precaution to close windows when turning on the light (BTW: thanks to the staff for providing us insecticide). Also a pity that rooms are cleaned just once per week.

Located at a very quiet residential area in between downtown Kyoto and JR Kyoto Station, which is convenient to go any part of Kyoto. Across have two 24 hours convenient stores and a supermarket which closed at 12 a.m. Bathroom is extremely small so be careful while you are taking shower. My friend who is tall had a difficult time fit in the tub.

For the cost it was good value. I think having a jug and tea and coffee in the room would be a bonus, and a small fridge as well, but I guess this might make it more expensive. The staff were on the whole friendly and spoke some English but getting advice on complex problems took quite a bit of effort. Overall a pleasant experience an d close to transport and the JR station. Convenient for someone travelling alone.
The staff was very helpful and they had lots of maps and guides for the area. I would recommend staying in a place closer to downtown Kyoto. It is not easy to get around that city, no matter what the official line is, so it is better to place yourself firmly in the middle of the action.
I liked that it's off the beaten path, quiet and the staff is unobtrusive but helpful when you need it.
Free internet, coffee, tea, nice stuff, but, they clean rooms and change towels only every 7 days or pay 100 yen if you want a new towel.
